The seed capsules from the Banksia nut are recognisable
to most children as the 'Big Bad Banksia Men' in May
Gibbs' storybooks Snugglepot and Cuddlepie.
The flowers have lost their brilliance, becoming coarse
dull and hairy with exposed seed capsules emerging from
the central cone.
