Dianne Firth - The Soak

Australia's inland rivers are generally ephemeral and following rain the water quickly disappears. Water sometimes collects in 'soaks' where it lies just below the surface and can be discerned by subtle differences in the tone and texture of the surrounding earth. This work seeks to capture the essence of the trace, or afterimage, of water in Australia's dry inland.
